Baron Theophil Ferdinand Otto von Stackelberg

Dr. Baron Wolfhart von Stackelberg, the President of the Familiy Union, explains about Baron Theophil von Stackelberg and the Stackelbergs in Estonia.

”Baron Theophil von Stackelberg was born in Parzimois (Partsi) on the 20th of February, 1838, and died in Koloshiza (Ingermanland, east of Narwa) on the 7th of September, 1905. He owned the 2,457 ha Fegefeuer Manor (in Estonian: Kiviolo, 33 km southeast of Tallinn) and both Koloshiza Manor and Osertiza Manor in Ingermanland. In military service he was a lietenaunt. He married Alexandrine von Rehekampff in Dorpat (Tartu) on the 1st or March 1863. Out of this marriage there were borm three sons and three daughters. Nowadays his descendants live in Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, USA and South Africa.

Information on all the ancestors of Theophil von Stackelberg is completely traceable back to 1504. However, the first documentary evidence of the Stackelberg dates back to a historical entry in 1244 in Cologne and 1306 in Riga.

In 1727, Field Marshal Bernd Otto I, a direct ancestor of Theophil, was appointed an inherited barony by the Swedish King”
